Right now, it feels a little like Christmas Eve when you’re eight years old.
You know something is coming.
You know the morning will be different.
But you’re stuck in the time before it happens — waiting.
Waiting on pins and needles.
Refreshing author dashboards.
Checking the book's listings online.
Wondering who else out there knows what tomorrow means.
Twenty years ago, the idea for the story sparked in a single moment, voiced only to my wife Jessica. It stayed there in my imagination for quite awhile - though revisited from time to time.
A year and a half ago I started writing.
There were early mornings before anyone else was awake. Late nights when I questioned whether I could actually finish something this big. Chapters that worked. Chapters that didn’t. Moments where I almost talked myself out of it.
But I kept going.
And now here we are.
Tomorrow, Storm Grazer Rising stops belonging only to me.
You’ll meet these characters. You’ll decide what works. What doesn’t. What stays with you.
That’s the part that’s hard.
Because once it’s out there, it’s no longer just mine.
And that’s the whole point.
Stories aren’t meant to be guarded. They’re meant to be released.
